Trisha's Story

My apologies for the long silence. I've been so busy and also went away for a holiday. But I'm back now. And what better way to brighten up the holiday season with a story from a woman who's so in love with her man. Trisha Samuels sent me her story of how she met her man.

Trisha, i-Weddings wishes you all the best in your relationship and hopefully you'll keep coming back to the i-Weddings blog for ideas to plan your wedding!

My best friend introduced me to her friend who I thought was extremely intelligent and very attractive. Soon she started to invite him to all of our group hangouts. We asked him to play volleyball with us and we hung out the whole two days.

I was interested in him but I was not so sure he was interested in me. He was going off to college across the state so I did not try to pursue anything. I knew there was just something about him that attracted him to me so much. He went off to college and I still never forgot him.

He came back for Winter break and hung out with all my friends and that is when I knew I wanted him to be my boyfriend. I was in the car with my friends and I said, "He is the kind of man I want to marry. I could see myself marrying this man."

I was at my aunts the day before Christmas and I got a call from my best friend telling me that she was going to call Sean and ask him if he was interest in me. Here I am and 19 years old acting a s if I was in elementary school. I hung up with her and waited impatiently for about 25 minutes and then I got a call back. My heart was beating so fast and Felicia ended up telling me that she could not believe it but Sean like me too. I started freaking out. I was going in circles and then I just keep saying, “You’re kidding right?” and then I just felt like melting!

The next day we all went bowling and I was sitting in the back seat next to Sean and my hand was next to him and then he grabbed my hand and it fit like a glove and the rest is history! I love this man with all my heart and everyone should be with someone who makes their heart melt each and every day!

Planning - Create a wedding to remember!

The journey is often more important than the destination. I suppose it is true of your wedding planning journey. Making sure the bomboniere is perfect while planning a wedding to remember for your guests is important. But creating a wedding to remember for you and your husband is even more important.

What is more beautiful than remembering 50 years from now mishaps with the bomboniere when you were planning your wedding to your husband of 50 years? And telling your great-grandchildren all about it when renewing your vows during the 50th anniversary of your wedding? So how do you capture memories of your wedding planning journey so you and your husband will remember during your 50th wedding anniversary?

Darcy Miller of Martha Stewart Weddings show you how. Jot down little notes while planning your wedding. Be dilligent in doing this and you will have a wedding to remember for the rest of your life.

Themes - iLoveThese inspirations for a beach theme wedding

Beach weddings are popular especially in warmer weather. Some ideas for a beach theme wedding are:
  • Use natural materials for your wedding favours or bomboniere
  • Make full use of the gorgeous backdrop you have - the ocean!
  • Use a lot of white accented with one bold colour (too many colours will detract from the natural scenery)
  • Think casual, flirty and breezy
  • Use flowers with a tropical feel such as orchids
  • Serve "coloured" food on a white background
  • Don't wear shoes with your wedding dress if you don't have to

Reception Centrepieces - More iLoveThese Centrepieces from Marthastewartdotcom

If you're planning a spring wedding in Australia, here are a few warm ideas for your reception centrepieces from Martha Stewart. Two main themes are apparent in the Martha Stewart centrepieces.

Firstly there's the use of potted plants as centrepieces. You could re-use them as plants in the garden in your new home. How's that for a cost saving!

Secondly there's use of bold warm colours - hues of red, orange and warm yellow. The bottom left picture features fruits as part of the centrepiece. Very yummy idea!

Tag! Getting to know me!

I've never been e-tagged before! Thanks to Hamiharri of Another Wedding Blog for my very very first e-tag!

So, the purpose of the tag is to get to know me with 8 fact/habits about myself! Here goes:

1. I have a 10cm-long v-shaped scar where my right shin meets the foot. I jumped onto a glass cover of a portable oven when I was three and had to get 40 stiches. The doctor was afraid that I may have severed major tendons in that area. I reckon that's why I can flex my right foot more than my left!

2. I'm afraid to have children. Like Hamiharri, I will go for the elective C-section. I'm just afraid that they'll turn out as rebellious and naughty as I was.

3. I am a huge Star Wars fan. I want to be Luke Skywalker. I almost bought a S$300+ light sabre that lights up and sounds exactly like Luke's.

4. I have a chocolate bunny who is more than a year old. I'm carrying out a scientific experiment to determine how long chocolate bunnies live.

5. I love animals, especially dogs. But I don't own a dog because I can't trust myself to care for him/her. If I ever have a dog, he/she will be an Alaskan Husky.

6. I sponsor two children through World Vision. One girl from Lesotho in the African continent and one boy from the Philippines. The girl excels in Maths and Science and the boy wants to be a doctor when he grows up. I am so proud of my children and would love to visit them some day.

7. So far, I have lived in Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia. If I get a chance, my next stop would be America.

8. The name i-Weddings is derived from my given name. It's not a inspired copy of the Apple's iPod name. I was given my name long before Apple gave iPod its name. So I reckon Apple got their inspiration from my name. NOT!

Reception planning - A personalised wedding is in the details

Details such as personalised bomboniere or wedding favours, napkins, colour theme, chair covers and signature drinks make or break the wedding.

Perhaps one of the most fun things to do to personalise your wedding is choosing your signature drink. I would suggest that you pick your colour theme first before starting on this journey.

signature drinks 2

Once you’ve decided on your colour theme, it’ll be easier to decide on your signature drink. Next is to decide which is your favourite cocktail. Naturally it’ll be great if both you and your fiancĂ©(e) have the same favourite cocktail. But if you don’t, don’t fret. You can have more than one signature drink. If you have two, use the each person’s favourite cocktail as the basis for each one. If you have four, use each cocktail as the basis for two. You get the drift.

Then it’s time to make it personal. I say go crazy with your experimentation. Set aside one day per week where all you do is experiment with different ingredients for your signature drink. Check out this website for some help!

signature drinks 1

And of course once you’ve settled on the ingredients, don’t forget that your job is not done yet. The coolest signature drinks have cool accessories. Figure out what type of straw you want, if any, and any embellishments, such as fruits or a little parasol, that you may wish to add on.
